Joy Fuerbringer is a former All American and NCAA Champion at Long Beach State. Played indoor professionally in Spain and Holland. Played 3 years on the Bud Light 4-Man Professional Beach Tour. Two State titles while Assistant Coaching at Goldenwest College, Final Four Appearance at Assistant Coach at Long Beach State. 2011 NCAA National Championship at UCLA, also as Assistant Coach. Owner and Director of Mizuno. Husband Matt runs boys club Team Rockstar VBC and is the Assistant Coach of the USA Men’s National Team. The Fuerbringers have two kids, Charlie (10 ) and Mateo (7).

Mike Campbell begins his 3rd season with Mizuno Long Beach. Mike is currently the assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach and Head Beach Coach at Long Beach State University. Mike brings us 6 years experience coaching at the club level and 5 years at the collegiate level. Mike attended UCLA and played on UCLA Men’s Team and Club Team. Mike graduated from UCLA in 2011 with a degree in Molecular Cell Development Biology. Mike trains all positions with an emphasis on blocking, passing and defense.

Darren Ong brings 7 years of coaching experience at Mizuno and also 10 years of coaching experience at the high school and college levels. He has led teams to Junior National medals in 2010 (Silver), 2011 (Silver) and 2012 (Bronze) as well as top finishes in SCVA. Darren serves as an assistant coach to Misty May-Treanor at Long Beach City College during the Fall season. He lives in Orange County, works with the Anaheim Ducks professional hockey organization in their Fan Development department, and is a graduate of Cal State Fullerton in Business Administration/Marketing.


Tiffany Rodriguez returns for her 5th season with Mizuno. She had a collegiate career at UC Boulder and the University of Arizona. She played professionally on the AVP pro beach tour as well! Tiffany has over 15 years of club coaching experience in both boys and girls juniors. Her 2010 12-mizuno and 13-mizuno teams finished 5th at junior nationals and the 2012 12-mizuno team finished top 5 as well.

Chris Austin was born in Texas, raised in Nevada. Began as an Outside Hitter. Attended University of Hawaii, transferred to Long Beach City College, and began setting. Finished his junior and senior seasons at UC Irvine, winning the 2012 & 2013 NCAA DI Championships, being chosen for the All-Tournament Team both Final Fours. During that time, Chris assistant coached a 2010 CIF Championship, head coached 7 SCVA medals, 5 Junior Nationals All-Americans, 4 top-five Open Division finishes at Junior Nationals, and 1 Open Division medal. After graduating from UCI, Chris assistant coached on staff for USC Men’s Volleyball, and played briefly on the AVP. He went on to play three professional indoor seasons in Europe and authored his first book in 2016, titled The Way: A Hawaiian Story of Growth, Relationships, & Volleyball.

Tim May has returned for his 2nd season with Mizuno Long Beach. Tim also coaches Team Rockstar 18s team. Tim played collegiate volleyball at Long Beach state and has played professionally in Europe and the Middle East for several years.


Rodrigo Gil is from Uberlandia, Brazil. He left home at 14 to play volleyball professionally. He has played all over the world including Italy, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Korea, Qatar and can speak 5 languages. Rodrigo is great at teaching attack and passing. He is a great asset to the girls program and does private training. He is also currently coaching with our boys program Team Rockstar VBC. He is married to fellow coach, Kara Gil, and they are expecting their first child in November.

Sabrina Hernandez is a former All American setter from Long Beach State, where she appeared in 3 Final Four Appearances. Sabrina is one of the best and well sought out setter’s trainers in SoCal. She has two State Titles at Goldenwest College and has been the Assistant Coach at Oregon State and UC Irvine, to which she just returned as Assistant Coach. She is also now a Real Estate Agent and lives with her husband Josh and cat Maddox in Long Beach.

Alexis Cormier is the All Time Dig Leader at Cal State Northridge, where she played and started as an outside hitter all 4 years. Alexis is also an integral part of the Team Rockstar Member 6-man. Alexis is a top trainer and specializes in all skills, passing and ball control. She has been coaching for 10 years with Mizuno.


Robbie Orantes brings us over 18 years of coaching experience. He has coached at all levels and has coached at high level college camps. Played at Long Beach City College and continues to play competitively. Robbie has a son Anthony on our Team Rockstar 16s and Mizuno alum Justine, who is currently the starting libero at Nebraska.

Miles Evans played college volleyball at UC Santa Barbara after transferring from SB City College. His junior club affiliation was with the Santa Barbara Spikers. Miles was selected for the World University Championships for beach volleyball U26 in Portugal. He has coached at Team Rockstar for one season after four seasons with the Santa Barbara Spikers.

Yelena Szazka played several years professionally for the top club team in Russia. She moved to the US to pursue coaching. Currently coaching at St Joseph’s High School. She is now living in Los Alamitos.

Stephanie Bonomi-Briceno is in her 16th year coaching at Mizuno Long Beach. She was the 1980 NAIA Player of the Year and 3-Time All American at Azusa Pacific University. While at APU she won 2 Consecutive NCAA/ NAIA National Championships. She was Inducted into the Azusa Pacific University Hall of Fame. She also played for the for USA Athletes in Action indoor South American Tour. She has two daughters Jianna Bonomi (USD) and Justyn Bonomi (UCI) played 8 years for Mizuno Long Beach. Her husband  Carlos Briceno is a Bronze Medalist in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. He also is a FIVB Beach Silver Medalist at the Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg, Russia. 


Brian Micheletti enters his sixth year coaching at Mizuno. He grew up playing volleyball in Northern California and went on to play collegiatley at San Jose State. After completing his undergraduate, he went on to earn his Masters in Physical Therapy at Chapman University. Brian has two children who continue to play and develop at Mizuno and Team Rockstar.

Moe Iosia brings us years of coaching experience. He played volleyball in Samoa and Hawaii growing up. He and his wife, Marlene started Starlings South Bay and have several children that have played for and coach for Mizuno Long Beach and Team Rockstar. Moe also currently coaches at Redondo Union HS.

Fia Faumuina is in his 5th year coaching at Mizuno. He is a passionate and great skills coach. His daughters, Adonia (12) and Maveti (4), play for Mizuno.


Carlos Briceno is a former Olympian who won Bronze in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Carlos attended the University of Hawaii and played professionally for many years. Carlos brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to the game. He currently coaches at Wilson High School. His wife, Stephanie, also coaches for Mizuno.

Keli Pula brings us almost 15 years coaching experience on both the club and school levels.Keli currently coaches at Long Beach Poly High School. Keli’s daughter, Deveny went through our program and went on to play and graduate from Cornell University. Keli is a great trainer and game coach, Keli was named Mizuno Coach of the Year in 2014.

Alec Gilliland has almost 10 years coaching experience for both club and high school programs. He lead his Vista Mar team to several CIF tournaments. Alec played in the club program and attended El Camino College and Cal State LA. He has coached with Mizuno Long Beach and Team Rockstar for 5 years. He is currently with the Wilson High School Volleyball Program. Alec is married to fellow coach, Lindsey Lampert, and they have 2 kids, Jace (4) and Max (1).

Naomi Iosia played at Mizuno and competed at Junior Olympics. She earned a scholarship and played at Hope International University. Naomi enters her 3rd year coaching at Mizuno.

Lance Aoki is a top SoCal trainer and private coach. He has been coaching volleyball for over 25 years. He has coached high school, top level club teams, top college volleyball camps and been a head trainer for Mizuno for 16 years. Gold Medalist at Junior Olympics. Currently assistant coaching at St. Joseph’s High School. Graduate from Cal State Fullerton in Communications and Advertising.

Kara Gil played for Mizuno since she was 13. During her career with Mizuno she won 2 silver medals at Junior Olympics and her teams were ranked in the top 5 in the country. She continued her career at University of Pacific and then went overseas to play professionally in Turkey, Puerto Rico, and France. She is married to Mizuno and Team Rockstar coach, Rodrigo Gil and they live in Hermosa Beach.

Lindsey Lampert has been with Mizuno Long Beach since its start in 1993. She earned a scholarship as a middle blocker to the University of San Diego where she was named to the WCC team during her junior and senior seasons. Lindsey has over 10 years coaching experience at both the high school and club levels. She also provides administrative support to both Mizuno and Team Rockstar. Lindsey is married to fellow coach, Alec Gilliland, and they have 2 kids, Jace (4) and Max (1).

Saitaua “Sa” Iosia attended Long Beach Poly High School and led her team to a CIF Championship State Championship Finals in 2011. Sa played for LB Mizuno and continued her education and volleyball at Univ Maryland Eastern-Shore. Her team won 2 conference championships and she was MVP in 2012 & 2013. In 2014, Sa transferred to Towson University and graduated with a Bachelors in Family Science. She was featured in Sports Illustrated Faces of the Crowd (Sept 2014), and earned First Team All Conference honors in 2015. Sa played on the American Samoa National indoor and sand Volleyball teams and won Gold in indoor volleyball at the South Pacific Games in 2015 and Silver in the Oceania Sand tournament 2015. Sa has younger sister Pa’i Iosia, who plays for 18 Rockstar.


Kiera King brings over 14 years of volleyball experience and 5 years of coaching experience. She attended New Roads High School in Santa Monica, where she was a setter on JV and Varsity. She played 3 years of club volleyball at Westside O’Hana Volleyball Club and Culver City Volleyball Club.
She attended college at Norwich University in Northfield, VT. She started as a DS/Libro her freshman year and won Best Defensive Player 2007. She graduated May 2011 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management with a concentration in Leadership.
After returning from college, she coached at Santa Monica Volleyball Club for 3 years. She was an assistant to the 16-1 team and a Floating Assistant Coach for the 15-2, 14-2, and 14-3. After moving to the South Bay, she coached at AVA for 2 years. She was an Assistant Coach on the 16-2 team and Head Coach on the 15-1 team.
